Chocolate and a cuppa. What more could you ask for.
Thorntons is located in the new shopping centre in Whitley Bay.
There are about 4 tables outside and around 10 inside. Plenty of seats and a least 3 highchairs. So it is really family friendly.
As well as chocolate and sweets, this Thorntons does food.
Jacket potatoes, panni's, sandwiches and toasties. All of the food is cooked to order and the things like Coleslaw are homemade. The food is lovely. Really fresh and hot. The prices are good, I think we paid £7 for 2 panni's, a coffee and a fizzy pop. For afters we all got Thortons ice cream. It was really nice.
There are toilet facilities in this cafe, and when we went they were very clean. Plenty of soap and toilet roll.
This cafe gets quite full from about 11 till about 3 and it's a bit hard trying to get a table. But if you can wait it is well worth it.
Oh and don't forget to try the samples of sweets on the counter. Yum.

This Cafe is in a good location, in an indoor shopping mall in the centre of Whitley Bay.  We only had tea which was very nice, though the price was a little expensive. The service was quick and efficient and the tables were clean.  It's a good place to come in the winter to escape from the cold for a while.  I had to resist buying a bag of Thornton's strawberry creams though!

A quirky café that shares half it's floor space with a branch of Thorntons and seems to operate in a perpetual state of organized chaos.

Food is fine, large tables make the place feel a little cramped and service can be intermittent particularly in busy times.

There are tables "outside" (i.e. in the mall), but they can get a bad draft from the mall entrance if the weather is bad, so be prepared to keep your coat on.

Absolutely suburb, great service, lovely food, plenty of filling in the sandwiches, delicious cakes and pies, a nice cup of tea, defiantly will go back mainly because the staff are very accommodating.
